Job Description

Coonamble Shire Council is focused on delivering high quality services and a providing a healthy natural environment for its vibrant, connected, and respectful community.

This position, will require the successful applicant to work 6 months of year during pool season performing operation and maintenance of the pool facility with emphasis on ensuring the safety of all patrons. This requires the availability to work weekends and long hours during pool season, generous rates apply for all overtime work. For the remainder of the year duties will include carrying out general labouring activities in a variety of Council’s areas of operation. Training will be provided for pool attendant duties.

Job Description

Applications are invited for the permanent position of Water & Sewerage Services Operator within Council’s Infrastructure section. This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs to the water supply and sewerage infrastructure. The successful applicant would ideally have relevant experience in water & sewerage and general labouring.  A White Card & Drivers Licence is essential.

The position is classified at Grade 3 of Council’s salary structure with a salary to be negotiated, ranging from $49,005.32 to $56,729.78 depending upon qualifications and experience.  Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2020.

How can I ensure that I submit the best application possible?

So that your application is competitive, ensure that you submit a current resume, at least two referees with current contact details, a written response to the selection criteria and short covering letter. When will I be notified?

After a position has closed, interviews are usually held one week later. All unsuccessful applicants are notified via mail at this stage. If you are successful in gaining an interview, please allow 7 working days for Council to contact you. If you were the successful applicant you will be contacted via phone. All unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing. 

How do I know if I got an interview?

Council will contact you to arrange a suitable time for an interview shortly after the application closing date.  

I left something out of my application

Information can be added to your application at any time until the closing date. After this time, if you are successful in gaining an interview you can bring any additional information to the interview.

Can I put my application on file for future jobs?

Council maintains a register of people seeking future employment opportunities; however you are encouraged to apply for specific positions that may be advertised by Council in the Coonamble Times newspaper and website. It cannot be guaranteed that if you have submitted a general application you will be considered for a specific position automatically.
