Shannon Noll to perform at Coonamble Greyhound Carnival
Friday, 29 Sep 2023
6.00pm - 9.00pm
Coonamble Greyhound Track, 160 Castlereagh Hwy, Coonamble NSW 2829
Rock legend Shannon Noll has been confirmed as the headline act to perform at this year’s Coonamble October long weekend carnival.
The announcement is a huge boon for the time-honoured event which continues to be the flagbearer for country greyhound racing carnivals.
“Being a Condoblin boy I’m really looking forward to getting out to Coonamble for the Friday night of the long weekend for what I hear is the biggest country greyhound carnival there is,” Noll said.
Noll will perform following the Friday night (29 September) program which kickstarts four days of frenetic racing where more than 150 races are run and won in front of bumper crowds.
Each year, trainers from all over the country descend on Coonamble, for a range of feature events led by the $12,000-to-the-winner Gold Maiden (305m).
The huge social event, which continues to prove pivotal to the Coonamble town, is renowned for its rapid racing and massive betting action, where seven bookies are in attendance, the most of any non-tab carnival.
GRNSW CEO Rob Macaulay said that Noll’s presence at the carnival is a huge win not only for the industry but the Coonamble town in general.
“Having been in attendance last year I saw first hand just how important the four-day carnival is to our industry and the Coonamble town,” Macaulay said.
“To be able to secure Shannon to perform on what is already a huge Friday night of racing is a big win for the sport.
“Furthermore, attendance to the meeting and the performance will be free, so we’re encouraging all comers from surrounding regions to get along to the night and enjoy the action.”
