Caring for Country
Coonamble Shire Council acknowledges the Wailwan and Gamilaroi people as the traditional custodians of the land on which it meets and operates, respecting, encouraging and consulting with Elders past, present and emerging.
Council and staff seek at all times to show respect to all people and cultures whose privilege they have to serve within and beyond the Local Government Area. Council acts to encourage care of community and care of country, seeing this as a responsibility that Council now shares with the Wailwan, Gamilaroi and peoples of all backgrounds who call Coonamble Shire ‘home’.
Respecting both ancient lore and modern law, Council seeks to create as safe an environment as possible in which our current and future generations can prosper.
